Zinc, Activated

Zinc, Activated Cover a quantity of zinc , in granules, pellets or cylinders, with a solution containing 50  µg of chloroplatinic( iv ) acid per  ml. Allow to stand for 10 minutes, wash, drain and dry immediately.

Complies with the following tests.

Arsenic To 5  g add 15  ml of hydrochloric acid and 25  ml of water. Add 0.1  ml of tin( ii ) chloride solution AsT and 5  ml of 0.1m potassium iodide . Using the apparatus and procedure described for the limit test for arsenic , Appendix VII, no stain is produced on the mercury(ii) bromide paper.

Activity Repeat the test for arsenic using the same reagents and adding 1  ml of arsenic standard solution (1  ppm As) . An appreciable stain appears on the mercury(ii) bromide paper.
