Dichloromethane Methylene chloride; CH2Cl2  =  84.93 (75-09-2)

Analytical reagent grade of commerce.

A colourless liquid, sparingly soluble in water, miscible with alcohol; boiling point, about 40°; weight per  ml, about 1.32  g.

Dichloromethane used in fluorimetry complies with the following test.

Fluorescence Under radiation at 365  nm, the fluorescence measured at 460  nm in a 1-cm cell is not more intense than that of a solution in 0.05m sulphuric acid containing 0.002  µg per  ml of quinine, Appendix II  E.
