Agarose for Chromatography, Cross-linked (61970-08-9)

Chromatographic reagent grade of commerce.

Prepared from agarose by reaction with 2,3-dibromopropanol in strongly alkaline conditions.

Swollen beads 60 µm to 140  µm in diameter presented as a 4% suspension in water. It is used in size-exclusion chromatography for the separation of proteins with relative molecular masses of 6  ×  104 to 20  ×  106 and of polysaccharides with relative molecular masses of 3  ×  103 to 5  ×  106.
