Hexane C6H14 = 86.2 (110-54-3)

Colourless, flammable liquid, practically insoluble in water, miscible with anhydrous ethanol.

Distillation range (2.2.11). Not less than 95% distils between 67° and 69°.

Hexane used in spectrophotometry complies with the following additional test.

Minimum transmittance (2.2.25) using water as compensation liquid: 97% from 260 nm to 420 nm.
