Properties: Needles from alcohol or acetone, mp 131-132°. [a]D25 -198.6° (c = 1.44 in water). Absorption spectra: Briggs, Cain, J. Chem. Soc. 1954, 4182. Sol in water, methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethylacetate, dioxane, pyridine, acetic acid. Practically insol in ether, benzene, chloroform, ligroin.
Melting point: mp 131-132°
Optical Rotation: [a]D25 -198.6° (c = 1.44 in water)
