Properties: Needles from ligroin, mp 69°. bp748 298°; bp20 180°; bp13 176°. Absorption spectrum: Orndorff et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc. 49, 1542 (1927). One gram dissolves in 2 liters of water at 20°. Freely sol in alcohol, ether, chloroform and carbon bisulfide; almost insol in cold ligroin.
