Properties: Pale green, extremely deliquesc powder. Non-volatile. Dec above 60°. Sol in water, ethyl acetate, DMSO. Practically insol in benzene, CCl4, CHCl3. Reacts with ether, sometimes vigorously.

Properties: Deep violet, rhombic, monoclinic crystals. mp about 60°; dec above 100°. Sol in water, alcohol. Aq soln slowly becomes green on heating and rapidly recovers the reddish-violet color on cooling. LD50 orally in rats: 3.25 g/kg (Smyth).
