Properties: Needles from petr ether, mp 117°. Freely sol in alcohol, chloroform, ether, dil acids; practically insol in cold, moderately sol in hot water. Solns with water or alcohol are yellow and fluorescent, those with nonpolar organic solvents are colorless. pK 2.62. Absorption spectra: Dobbie, Tinkler, J. Chem. Soc. 85, 1005 (1904).
