Literature References: Commercial product prepd by dissolving yellow mercuric oxide in oleic acid; contains 24-26% HgO and about 10% excess oleic acid.
Properties: Yellowish-brown, somewhat transparent, ointment-like mass; odor of oleic acid. Poisonous! On keeping, the mercury is partly reduced to mercurous state or metal. Practically insol in water. Slightly sol in alcohol or ether, freely in fixed oils. Protect from light.
Therap-Cat: Has been used as ectoparasiticide.
