Properties: Reasonably stable only as the monohydrate, dark brown, hygroscopic, monoclinic prisms. d415 3.498. mp 38° (closed tube). Gives off iodine at 225°, leaving KI. "Incongruently" sol in water, sol (with partial decompn) in alcohol, ether.
