Properties: Gunmetal-gray crystals. Stable in moist air. d415 5.05. mp 280°. Gives off I2 when heated. Hydrolyzed slowly by cold, quickly by hot water, forming TeO2 and HI. Sol in HI; somewhat sol in acetone.
