Properties: Yellow liquid, emitting red fumes on exposure to moist air. d 1.84. bp 126-127°. mp -77°. Dec in presence of moisture into vanadic acid and HCl. When a small quantity of water is added, it becomes thick and almost blood-red because of formation of vanadic acid. Keep tightly closed. LD50 orally in rats: 0.14 g/kg (Smyth).
