Nitrobenzene C6H5NO2  =  123.1 (98-95-3)

Analytical reagent grade of commerce.

A pale yellow liquid; boiling point, about 211°.

Complies with the following test.

Dinitrobenzene To 0.1  ml add 5  ml of acetone , 5  ml of water and 5  ml of 10m sodium hydroxide , shake and allow to stand. The upper layer is almost colourless.
