Properties: Crystals from water + alc. Bitter taste. mp 166°; (mp 165.5-166.5°, Goldstein). 0.673 g dissolves in 100 parts water at 25°. Freely sol in alc, ether and hot water. Sublimes.
Melting point: mp 166°; (mp 165.5-166.5°, Goldstein)
Use: In quantitative sugar analysis.
