Properties: Crystallizes in 2 modifications: Brick-red needles, mp 65°, or stout, red prisms, mp 75° (resembling crystals of potassium dichromate). The German Pharmacopoeia recognizes only a material with mp 74-76° (yellowish-red powder). Insol in water; sol in alcohol, benzene, chloroform, ether, acetone, fixed oils, fats, petrolatum.
Melting point: mp 65°; mp 75°; mp 74-76°
