Literature References: Sodium hydroxide with lime. A mixture of calcium oxide with 5-20% sodium hydroxide and contg 6-18% water. It absorbs 25-35% its wt of CO2.
Properties: White or gray-white granules. Rapidly deteriorates on exposure to air through absorption of carbon dioxide. Keep tightly closed.
CAUTION: Strongly corrosive and irritating to skin, mucous membranes, eyes. Ingestion can cause severe damage to G.I. tract, death.
Use: To absorb carbon dioxide in basal metabolism tests, in rebreathing anesthesia systems, in submarines, and in carbon determinations.
